Iridescent

Don't you love the colours you see;

the flowers, the birds, the trees -

the muti coloured rainbows 

Different colours and shades of the sky?

Close your eyes and just imagine

a colourless world;

How will you feel to be in a world 

where everything is in shades of grey?


We love a world iridescent;

Dazzling and impressive to the eyes

But, You!

Black and white you try to be

submitting to the standards 

written down by people before you;


But have you ever looked at people really close;

A little bit closer to their souls?

Have you ever noticed 

the different colours of people- 

beautiful shades they are trying to hide

Just like you! 


Now, close your eyes and just imagine


a colourless world full of colourless people

How will you feel to be in a world -

where everything is in shades of grey?

Wampum

  I heard the word wampum for the first time today. Or it is probably the first time I gave attention to the word. I don't really know. Google says wampum are  tubular purple and white beads made from shells  used primarily by Indigenous peoples of the Eastern Woodlands.  I am pretty sure these are among prettiest beautiful beads that I have ever seen!  These were used for ornamental, ceremonial, diplomatic and commercial purposes.  Belts made of wampum were used to mark agreements between peoples. And these ornaments are said to have a history of 4500 years.  That's a long history.  How many agreements may have been marked by exchanging wampum belts? Must have been many. The making and breaking of promises! Although it sounds like an age-old tradition, we still exchange things when we come to agreements. Aren't we?  My thoughts immediately jump to weddings rings. Lodestone (කාන්දම් ගල්)

 Lodestone. සිංහලෙන් කාන්දම් ගල.  කාන්දම් ගල් කියපු ගමන් මතක් වෙන්නේ කාගේ හරි ඇස්.අපි කවුරු හරි මුණ ගැහුණම පොඩි හරි සම්බන්දතාවක් ගොඩනගා ගන්න අවශ්‍ය නම් අනිත් කෙනාගේ ඇස් දිහා අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම බලනවා. වචන පාවිච්චි කළා නොකලා අදාළ නෑ, ඇස්  වලින් ගොඩක් දේවල් කතා කරන්න අපිට පුදුමාකාර හැකියාවක් තියනවා.    ඊළඟට මතක් වෙන්නේ කොහෙහරි කවුරු හරි ලියපු බොළඳ ආදර කතාවක්.  කොල්ලෙක් කෙල්ලෙක්ව පලවෙනි පාරට දකිනවා. අන්න එතනට කාන්දම් ගල් අදාළ වෙනවා. කොල්ලගෙයි කෙල්ලගෙයි ඇස් දෙක පලවෙනි පාරට මුණ ගැහුණම ඉතින් එක්කෙනෙක්ට අනිත් එක්කෙනාගේ ඇස් කාන්දම් ගල් වගේ. පුදුම ආකර්ෂණයක් දැනෙන්නේ. එතනින් එහාට කතාව කොහොම කොහොම හරි ලියවෙයි.  කොල්ලෝ කෙල්ලෝ විතරක් නෙවේ ඕනෙම මනුස්සයෙක්ට තවත් මනුස්සයකුගේ ඇස් වලට ආකර්ෂණයක් දැනෙන්න පුළුවන්. ඒක  රෝමාන්තික ආකර්ශනයක් හරි, එච්චර චමත්කාරයක් නැති රෝමාන්තික නැති නිකම්ම ආකාශනයක් වුනත් වෙන්න පුළුවන්. කැමති නම් ලිංගික / අලිංගික වචන දාගන්න. ගැලපෙන විදියට.  ඇත්තටම ඇයි අපි තව කෙනෙකුට ආකර්ෂණය වෙන්නේ. එක එක්කෙනා එක එක කතා කිව්වත් මට නම් ඒක විසඳගන්න පුළුවන් කාර...
